STOLEN PEACE+
Take from me what you want
I am trying my excess to lose;
And it is better that I rest
In the peace that I have
And permit you
Your heart’s desire to choose.
I am a fading memory
In the face of your pride of life;
I tried the best man’s solution
I married and took me a wife;
But nothing could the thought of my losses
From my dreams or my fantasy wipe.
Yes, faith is a cryptic vision
That is hidden within me
One hundred percent and
Until it is found in the living
The loss will never relent.
What options can I look to
For guidance?
Who would satisfy
The hunger in my breast?
Which method can withstand
My sinful upheavals?
What person or persons persist
To pass the test?
Nothing!
No one!
No where!
Nobody!
In the world
That I ever will hope to see;
Only the love I have been told is perfect
Can by my faith
Ever hope to save me.

***************************
PRESENT DREAMS.
The past is a handy place
To have to which to run,
When the present is no longer fun;
As long as we have won there.
But why does silence replace the music?
Fantasy the dance?
And order, peace and quiet
The mayhem and happenstance?
Because life and death is scary;
And we cannot take a chance
To try and maybe fail again
In the hope of new romance.
Enchantment becomes
A distant place of make believe,
Where tricks are played
And gnomes and ogres sing;
While little people with human hearts
Are set upon a journey
Searching for a special crown
Or goose or ring.
That place from which we all awoke
When we grew up to have a past;
Because we chose to embrace a present
That we hoped and dreamed would last.
