SACRIFICED SANDALS

I wear my rags like sacred vestments,

A poor offering to a glorious God;

In layers they represent

The sins and the experiences

From all of the days

That I trod the earth

Which draws me ever closer

To the dirt I own too much

With feet bare and lightly shod

And close to nature’s touch.
