ADAM’S REST
Nobody wants to be bothered
Except for what they have already chosen to do;
That is the reason there is so much madness about;
It is essentially living in a zoo.
No one loving or working together,
Nothing heartfelt or true;
The other one judging what the first one saw
While the second one is looking at you.
A sad affair,
When tried to be understood;
I cannot do what I know that I should;
I am not sure that it would be in my best interest
Or for that matter for anybody’s good.
Nobody knows what is for the best;
Everybody has their own reality test;
In the end, all the queries must come to rest
In the same place where the first one ever stood.

GOD’S GIRLS
I do not need dozens of girls around
Livening up the trip;
I just need one special girl from afar
To help me to get a grip;
And it is the same with spirits
And whiskeys and wines;
It is not necessary to take a gulp
But only to savor a sip;
You see I take my lesson from
A God of one Word
Who wants quality
Over a run on from the lip.

FINAL CHAPTER
No one can do anything.
I am on my own alone;
Heading for the horizon,
A lonely, unknown zone.
Even I just keep going through the motions,
Waiting for a solution to be shown;
Hoping for a deus-ex-machina
To throw this poor dog a bone;
But even dogs cannot help me now,
Old ladies or old stand-bys;
Just like the final chapter
I am watching the unfolding story
With a sigh; Clinging
To every small remembrance,
Not wanting the drama to die;
Searching for a new revelation
On which to find hope to fly.
Denial, depression, anger,
Bargaining to buy a little time;
Time, the one big thing
I thought to love
When I thought this world was mine.
But I will return to the beginning
To satisfy the end;
Remembering
There is always another springtime
Waiting around the barren bend.
