OTHER LOVE

For them,

For us,

For you,

What prayer would all suffice?

And if there I would find peace,

Oh, that would be so nice.

All forms of life look to higher forms

With aspiration, with anticipation of love

And with the need for approbation;

Take for example, the dog and man;

And man and God;

All forms of life seek

When higher forms

To love lower forms;

To lift them up!

Again look at man and the dog;

And God and man;

Yes, God so loved us

That he gave his very self,

His very son,

To lift us up

By experiencing our life

And our death.

FAITH OF OUR FATHERS.

Are we ever any more or less

Than the children

Of our mother’s and our father’s

Hope to love?

Are not our sins nothing more than

Our dreams to be something

Other than that?

Do we not fret and strut

Until we find ourselves

Wounded and alone

And then stumble

Into our genes and our roles;

Finally to find that

Our hope to love is

Nothing more than theirs ever was.
