CLEAR WORDS

I must at times get lost

In the forest;

It makes me human and humble;

It brings me to my knees.

 

It helps me to lose

The bright light of clarity

And the blindness of

The individuality of the trees;

 

I become more

A member of all of creation

And I have no one but Being

To please;

 

Until I can return to

My own solitude;

And I can the moment

With all of who I am seize.

All You want is praise and thanksgiving;

And all I got is contempt and despair;

I cannot get around the pain and rejection

So that into Your Goodness I can stare;

 

But Your Mercy comes

To clear my mind of confusion

As I recall the true focus

Of Your Love;

 

So I can look again into forever

And find my mind an opening

To things above.

The whole world is watching;

The whole world is involved;

Yet some people still think

About them it does revolve;

So we all must keep praying

Until each of our journeys are solved.

EMPTY AMUSEMENT

There is nothing

Between the pain and the elation

That is the experience of

The pendulum of life;

But I would rather cling precariously

To a steady state of being than

Ride an amusing roller coaster full of strife.

No!

Change that!

Nothing cannot hold a candle to

The involvement in a life of

The opposite extremes;

Because they are most assuredly

Part of the experience of living

While nothing is

Just the boredom that it seems.

Will you understand if I tell you who I am?

Or will you only reprimand me with yourself?

The hand that we each are dealt

Needs our own time to be felt

So I will stay alone,

A wallflower on the shelf.

I would like to run away

Because there is nothing I can say

And wasting precious breath

Is bad for health.
